All of us want to look good for different reasons: our upcoming high school class reunion, that girl’s trip you’re finally going to take, or so our spouse will look at us like they did when we first married.
And in today’s advanced dermatologic landscape of injectables and dermal fillers offered in Tuscaloosa, there are many different tools to get you there!
However, the hard part is trying to decide which solution is best for your particular problem area. These are the usual areas where women come to us desiring to correct an issue with injections and fillers:
Forehead
Nasolabial folds (wrinkles from the bottom of the nose to corners of the mouth)
Smile and fine lip lines
Laugh lines (“crow’s feet”)
Glabella (lines between your eyes)
Backs of hands
We wanted to give you some information on which treatment is best for each of these areas, and the differences between similar injectables and fillers.
My facial expressions have given me wrinkles over time! What’s a quick fix?
The perfect solution for facial muscle wrinkles is Xeomin. This little magical elixir is injected into areas of fine lines and wrinkles on your face to temporarily “freeze” those muscles for a period of 3-4 months. And although similar to Botox and Dysport, Xeomin is famously known as the “naked injectable” because it does not contain additives - definitely a plus!
Women in Tuscaloosa who have been getting Xeomin injections from Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty know he’s an expert at what he does and knows exactly how to get them the look they want.
I’ve heard of dermal fillers - how are they different from Xeomin?
While Xeomin temporarily freezes muscles, dermal fillers tend to “plump up” trouble spots that thin out as we age.
Many dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which serves as the foundation of your face’s “house”, adding volume to the injected areas. With these types of fillers, you’ll see pretty immediate results--which is great! You will have to get touchups once or twice a year to maintain your results.
Other fillers actually stimulate your body’s natural collagen, which helps give you more of a long term result since your body will be developing new collagen over time. These fillers usually last anywhere from 12-18 months.
Here are some popular fillers we use here at Tuscaloosa Med Spa, and what they are best used for:
Versa™ - although Versa, a hyaluronic acid filler, is often used to help with deep facial wrinkles, it’s probably best known for treating those pesky folds that run from your nose down to the corner of your mouth (nasolabial folds.)
Belotero Balance® - this is also a hyaluronic acid filler, and it is a really terrific option for working on delicate areas of your face such as smile lines and vertical lip lines.
Radiesse® is slightly different than other fillers because it actually stimulates the creation of new collagen while “holding the place” for areas that have thinned due to age. Radiesse is most often the go-to for correcting really deep facial wrinkles and folds. It is also used commonly for correcting volume loss in the back of the hands.
In the end, it’s in the doctor’s hands. Literally.
Although injectables and dermal fillers can do wonders for your appearance, keep in mind that regarding your successful outcome, it’s all about the injector (doctor.) The more injections they’ve done, the better your outcome is going to be and the less likely it’ll be that you look surprised or frozen!
