AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR COOLSCULPTING?
If you have noticeable bulges in certain areas that you would like to get rid of, you may be a good candidate for CoolSculpting. The CoolSculpting fat reduction procedure is designed for men and women who have unwanted fat that resists diet and exercise. The CoolSculpting procedure is not a weight loss solution for people who are obese.
HOW MUCH DOES THE COOLSCULPTING COST?
The price for CoolSculpting procedures varies depending on your areas of concern, the number of sessions needed and your ultimate goals. You can create a customized treatment plan that's tailored to your body, your goals and your budget.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING COOLSCULPTING?
First, the area or areas to be treated with controlled cooling are selected. The CoolSculpting device then draws the bulge into a cooling chamber. The sensation is a firm tug and pull — enough of a pull to ensure that the selected tissue will be cooled most efficiently.
Patients are comfortably seated or lie down during procedure. Many people spend this time reading, checking their messages, simply relaxing or even taking a nap.
WHAT DOES COOLSCULPTING FEEL LIKE?
During your treatment, a gel pad and applicator are applied to the targeted area. Applicators that use vacuum draw the tissue into the applicator cup. You may feel pulling, tugging and mild pinching. As the panels go to work in the first few minutes and controlled cooling is delivered to the targeted fat, the patient feels a sensation of intense cold. This sensation typically subsides within 10 minutes as the area becomes numb.
WHEN CAN I RETURN TO NORMAL ACTIVITIES?
The CoolSculpting procedure is completely non-invasive, so patients can return to normal activities immediately. Patients may experience redness, minor bruising, tingling or numbness in the treated area, but this is temporary.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
While some patients may see results as early as 3 weeks after their session, the most dramatic results are usually seen from 1 to 3 months after treatment. The body will continue to flush fat cells for up to 4 months. The CoolSculpting procedure has a 95% patient satisfaction rate, according to data from ZELTIQ Aesthetics.
ARE THE RESULTS PERMANENT?
Once the treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen) during the CoolSculpting procedure, the body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they're gone for good. As long as the patient maintains his or her weight with their normal diet and exercise, long-term results should remain stable. Many people take even better care of themselves after seeing the results from their CoolSculpting procedure. However, if you do gain weight, you may gain it evenly all over your body, not just in the treated areas.
WHAT IS XEOMIN?
XEOMIN® (incobotulinumtoxinA), like BOTOX, is a prescription medication injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults.
XEOMIN® contains botulinum toxin type A, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TREATMENT WITH XEOMIN?
You may begin to see visible smoothing as early as 3-4 days after injection. The median first onset of effect was less than a week. The maximum effect occurred at 30 days. The typical duration of effect was up to 3 months in clinical trials but may last significantly longer or shorter in individual patients.
Laser Hair Removal
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT?
Before the treatment, the area to be treated will be cleansed. Some patients receive a numbing cream. Numbing the area to be treated helps when a small area will be treated and the skin is very sensitive. It takes about 30 to 60 minutes for a numbing cream to work.
The laser treatment will take place in a room set up specifically for laser treatments. Everyone in the room must wear protective eyewear during the procedure. To perform the procedure, the skin is held taut and the skin is treated with the laser. Many patients say that the laser pulses feel like warm pinpricks or a rubber band being snapped against the skin.
A laser removes hair by vaporizing it. This causes small plumes of smoke that have a sulfur-like smell.
How long your treatment lasts depends on the size of the area being treated. Treating the upper lip takes minutes. If you are having a large area like the back or legs treated, your treatment may last more than an hour.
WHAT MUST I DO AFTER GETTING LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
To avoid possible side effects, all patients need to protect their skin from the sun. After laser hair removal, you should:
Avoid direct sunlight from hitting your treated skin.
Not use a tanning bed, sun lamp, or any other indoor tanning equipment.
Follow your pre and post procedure instructions.
You will see some redness and swelling after treatment. This often looks like a mild sunburn. Applying a cool compress can help reduce your discomfort.
IS THERE DOWNTIME?
No, laser hair removal generally does not require any real downtime. Immediately after having laser hair removal, your treated skin will be red and swollen. Despite this, most people return to their everyday activities.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
To remove the hair, most patients need 4 to 6 laser treatments. After finishing the treatments, most patients do not see any hair on the treated skin for several months or even years. When the hair regrows, there tends to be less of it. The hairs also tend to be finer and lighter in color.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
Most patients remain hair free for months or even years. When some of the hair regrows, it will likely be less noticeable. To keep the area free of hair, a patient may need maintenance laser treatments.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
The most common side effects are minor and last 1 to 3 days. These side effects include:
Other side effect are rare but may occur. If these do occur we have a licensed doctor on staff to treat these highly unlikely occurrences. Please see our laser hair removal consent form in office for more information.
AM I A GOOD CANIDATE FOR LASER FACIALS?
We can perform a complementary Visia Skin Analysis to determine your skin's' health.
HOW DOES THE LASER FACIAL TREAT PHOTODAMAGE?
The laser Facial works by focusing a beam of light to a target in the skin such as enlarged blood vessels and irregular chromophores. The enlarged vessels and irregularities are removed without scarring or damage to the treated or surrounding area.
WILL THIS WORK FOR ALL SKIN TYPES?
Today’s advanced lasers are capable of treating a wide variety of skin types.
HOW MANY TREATMENT ARE NEEDED?
Typically several treatments are required for optimal results. The number of treatments will depend on the severity of photodamage. The average treatment takes about 30 minutes. Results may become apparent after the first few treatments.
IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
There is some minor discomfort associated with the treatment. In most cases no anesthesia is necessary.
WHAT IS PRP?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is concentrated blood plasma which contains approximately three to five times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. In addition, it contains platelet derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), transforming growth factor (TGF) and other bioactive proteins that aid in wound healing and possibly hair growth.
Growth factors in platelet rich plasma (PRP) have been used to facilitate wound healing. Recently, studies have suggested that PRP may also serve as a safe and effective treatment option for male and female pattern hair loss. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy involves injection of the patient's own platelets and fibrin for the cosmetic treatment of wrinkles or scars in the face, hands, and neck. Known to some as the "vampire facelift" (a term trademarked by Alabama cosmetic surgeon Charles Runels), it is less invasive than plastic surgery, takes about 20 minutes for each treatment, and offers improvements for up to 18 months.
Human blood is comprised primarily of red blood cells (RBC), as well as white blood cells (WBC), platelets, and plasma. By initiating the first step of coagulation, platelets are the key to the body’s ability to heal wounds. It is thought that by increasing the platelet count in a wounded area, the body’s healing to that area would be accelerated – explaining the use of PRP in wound healing. Its effects on cellular healing make it useful for the medical treatment of hair loss and wrinkles or scars in the face, hands, and neck.
WHAT IS SKINPEN® ?
SkinPen® by Bellus Medical is a transient, non-surgical, cosmetic micro-needling device for the creation of “micro” skin punctures to improve the appearance of the skin. SkinPen® is an automated microneedling technology device designed for use by medical professionals. Sterile microneedle cartridges are provided for single use only.
HOW DOES SKINPEN® WORK?
Microneedling allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair process by creating precise, micro injuries in the skin.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
SkinPen® procedures are beneficial to assist in reducing the signs of ageing, improving the appearance of acne scars, as well as rejuvenate aging skin.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE?
One of the most exciting things about SkinPen® is that it can be used on all types of skin, on all skin colors. Talk to your SkinPen® provider to discuss specific needs.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
SkinPen®’s variable needle depth allows for versatility and therefore it can be used on many parts of the body, including the face, neck, and décolleté.
HOW LONG IS THE PROCEDURE AND WILL IT HURT?
The procedure typically takes 30 minutes. Most SkinPen users apply a topical anesthetic to the skin prior to the procedure. This allows for a relatively pain-free experience. Ask your doctor what they do to ensure patient comfort during the microneedling procedure.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
The total healing time depends on each individual patient. Most patients have some slight swelling and redness/pinkness (like a mild sunburn) for 2-4 days. Some patients may heal completely in 24 hours. *Individual results will vary.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Patients may notice healthier looking skin immediately. However, the natural repair process of your own skin continues to progress over the course of several weeks. Damage that has occurred over an extensive period of time won’t disappear immediately. You may not see the final result for up to 3-6 months following your final session. *Individual results will vary.
HOW MANY PROCEDURES ARE RECOMMENDED?
The number of procedures required will be determined by your skincare professional based upon your individual procedure goals and the health of your skin. Most patients receive a series of 3 procedures spaced about 4 weeks apart. Your provider will develop a procedure plan specific to you and also a maintenance plan to help maintain the rejuvenating effects.
DO I HAVE TO USE A CERTAIN PRODUCT LINE WITH SKINPEN®?
We recommend Skinfuse® post-microneedling. Please consult your skincare professional on which products will best fit you post-microneedling.
CAN I WEAR MAKE-UP AFTER THE TREATMENT?
Patients typically can resume their normal makeup regimen 2-3 days following their SkinPen® procedure depending on the area and type of procedure performed.
IS THERE ANYONE WHO SHOULD NOT USE SKINPEN®?
SkinPen® users should take precaution when determining whether the SkinPen® procedure is right for them. Consult your provider to discuss whether SkinPen® is right for you.
